Kdrama Review: Dating Agency Cyrano~

Title: Dating Agency Cyrano

Main Cast:

  • Lee Jong Hyuk as Seo Byung Hoon
  • Sooyoung as Kong Min Young
  • Lee Chun Hee as Cha Seung Pyo aka. Master
  • Hong Jong Hyeon as Moo Jin
  • Jo Yoon Woo as A-rang
  • Kim Jung Hwa as Yoon Yi Seol
  • Ha Yeon Joo as Hye Ri

My Rating: 9/10 Turtles

Seo Byung Hoon was a theatrical director but now he work as the leader of the Dating Agency Cyrano. His best friend died in an accident and feeling guilty, he decides to save the theater his friend left behind. Since the theater is in debt, the only way for Byung Hoo to save the theater is to form Cyrano Agency and pay back the loan.

Kong Min Young is a romanticist. She believes true love is found no matter what age, social status, religion, etc. you have so she quits the dating agency she worked at that only match couples within their “class” and joins Cyrano Agency. Due to different personalities and opinions of love, she often argues with Byung Hoon.

Cha Seung Pyo is a chef of his own restaurant that is situated beside Cyrano Agency. He seems to have great interest in Min Young.

My thoughts:

This drama is so fun to watch. It is full of romance and comedy just like the book ” Forgive my Fins”.(in terms of genre) It is really cool the way it is based on a play which is the first time I see it in an Asian drama. They are normally based on anime or Asian myths.

I think Soo Young did an exceptionally well job. I was already looking out for her from “3rd Hospital” and she didn’t disappoint me at all. I especially like her crying scenes, they are very realistic. I think Soo Young is one of the best idol actresses out in the industry. Of course, other actors did well as well but whenever there is an idol in a drama, it is always the idol’s acting people are concerned about. They kinda expect the actors to be good and wonder about the idol’s acting.

Did I mention how good this drama is? It hooked me right from the first episode! The start of it was already racey. There was a lot of flirting at the start so I didn’t expect Byung Hoon’s character to have scars in his relationship before. I’m very surprised at Byung Hoon and Min Young’s chemistry in the drama. I mean nothing is wrong but it’s just that when I see them together at the beginning in the poster, it’s like walking on the street and spot a couple that doesn’t seem to match each other at all.

Of course for the typical korean drama, I shipped Min Young and Seung Pyo. It was just so cute the way Min Young calls Seung Pyo “Master”. At first I found it a bit weird and thought maybe Min Young doesn’t get it or that the screenwriter is a troll but it seems normal in Korea. The reason I found it weird was because in animes, usually “Master” is an address for customers who go to a maid cafe.

Well in this drama even though it’s full of romance, the romance doesn’t have a happy ending until the very end. Even romance for the Moo Jin and Hye Ri. It’s very ironic the way the members of the Cyrano Agency help others to get together but they can’t themselves. I still love the mini love stories in this drama though. My favorite one is the one with Lee Kwang Soo but I find the one with the librarian-vet extremely hilarious.

I think this drama is suitable for a lot of people since it has mini romance stories within the main one so even if people don’t like the main one there are still others available. For me I actually love all of them except the one with Taemin. I just don’t feel the love as deep as other ones.

I would recommend this drama to Soo Young’s fans AND anti-fans. I think the an-ti fans will find something they like about Soo Young after they watch the drama. I personally like Taeyeon the best out of SNSD but after this Soo Young is already fighting her way to the No.2 space in my bias list. I would also recommend this to people who wants a fun and comedic drama to watch. This is definitely one that you laugh-your-a$$-off at.

If you already watch the drama, tell me what you think in the comments:D If you didn’t,….well you can tell me what you think of my review:) Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy my review^^

Episode 5:

Sheung Sheung is looking at the evidence of Consort Yin’s case in her study. Kai On walks in and tells her to stop investigating because the Emperor is upset enough. He says that he believes in Consort Yin’s innocence too but tells her to not be influenced by Pao and his gang. He invites her to dinner but she refuses, saying that she needs to do some kind of poem for the Princess.

The Emperor wakes up in the middle of the night and he sees the dead Crown Prince’s “ghost”. Ghost Crown Prince tells his Emperor-daddy that there is another “royal blood” left in Jok Zji San. In the morning, Kai On goes to see the Emperor. He tells the Emperor that there is an exceptionally bright star hovering over Jok Zji San. Emperor really believes that he has a son somewhere in Jok Zji San and orders Kai On to go and check it with Pao and Sheung Sheung.

On the way to Jok Zji San, Pao keeps on flirting with Sheung Sheung by telling her jokes and giving her wild flowers he picked. They arrive at a wooden house and find the person with the “moon” birthmark there. His name is Lang Ching and his mother( Hon Dan) was a maid in the palace.

Sheung Sheung and Pao go to the room where they store the records of the place servants and search for Hon Dan’s information. Hon Dan was really the palace maid and she left the palace 23 years ago.

Pao and Sheung Sheung go to a deserted house where Hon Dan used to live. They find this secret compartment and inside is a baby clothing with what they assumed to be the embroidery from the palace. Now they all think that Lang Ching is the lost royal baby.

Pao tells Chin Chiu to go back to the palace first. He fakes having a sore leg so Sheung Sheung goes and treats his leg. It turns out that it is Phoenix’s birthday and Pao wants to celebrate it with Sheung Sheung because they look so alike. Phoenix agrees and she reveals that she doesn’t know her birthday since she’s an orphan. Pao promises to make her a birthday cake every year from then so now it is her birthday as well.

Sheung Sheung and Pao shows the Emperor the baby clothing they found. The Emperor confirms it as a gift given by him. The Emperor decides to go to Jok Zji San himself to find the “Prince”.

The Emperor and the others arrive at the wooden house but there is no one there. Sheung Sheung sees Lang Ching out side with Kai On. Kai On is on his knees , begging Lang Ching’s “mother”(the grave) to let him bring Lang Ching back to the palace. Lang Ching agrees to go with him. The Emperor is touched by Kai On’s loyalty.

The Emperor introduces Lang Ching as the Crown Prince to his subject. He then renames him as Zhiu Cheng. He orders Kai On, Pao , Sheung Sheung and Chin Chiu to teach Zhiu Cheng various palace skills. He decides to grant Pao a wish for finding the “Prince” and Pao wishes for Sheung Sheung………………………….’s bow and arrow that she invented. When Pao pauses at Sheung Sheung, everyone looks at him with the “oh no you didn’t” face. It was hilarious……XD Kai On is promoted as the highest rank official ( don’t know what that is in english but it is somewhere along the line of the head of the Emperor’s advisers ). Pao is suspicious of  Zhiu Cheng and Kao On’s relationship.

At night, Pao and his guards are having a feast. Pao seems to be sad and one of the guards suggests that it’s because Kai On is promoted. Pao denies and drags Adviser Gongsun aside, asking him how to woo a girl. He advises him to stick with things she’s interested in and in this case is music. Pao decides to gather all the instruments he has and form a band with his minions.

When Zhiu Cheng is practicing shooting arrows with the Princess and the second Prince, he asks the Princess to help him and he looks at her in a perverted way. The Princess is freaked out and backs away. When they are studying literature with Pao and Sheung Sheung, Zhiu Cheng falls asleep. The Royal Siblings are told to do calligraphy, Zhiu Cheng pretends that he doesn’t know how to do it and asks the Princess to help him. This time, the Princess ignores him. Pao offers to teach him and finds his hands exceptionally smooth for a person who used to cut wood for a living.

Screenshot (471)

Pao is suspicious and he re-examine the proof that confirms Zhiu Cheng as the “Prince”. He finds out that around 9 months before Zhiu Cheng is born, the Emperor was actually away for the year at war so it’s impossible for him to be born. He then looks at the document that states the year Hon Dan left the palace and finds that the ink that is used to write Hon Dan’s name is new compared to the other names. This confirms that Zhiu Cheng is not the Prince.

Screenshot (474)

Sheung Sheung is showing Zhiu Cheng the weapons. Pao arrives with snacks and Sheung Sheung leaves. Pao tries to test Zhiu Cheng by giving him some so-called bamboo shoots from Jok Zhi San and asking him some questions about Hon Dan. Zhiu Cheng knows that he is testing him. Zhiu Cheng takes a dagger with him and leaves. On his way out, Sheung Sheung tells him to resume his lessons but he tells her that he is sick and has to go back to his room. Sheung Sheung finds her dagger missing and is worried. She gets an invitation from Kai On to dinner.

Screenshot (478)

Zhiu Cheng is looking for Kai On but of course he can’t because Kai On is out waiting for Sheung Sheung to dine together. Sheung Sheung is looking for Pao but discovers that Zhiu Cheng has ordered Pao to meet with him. She goes out to town looking for Pao but is stopped by Kai On on the way. Kai On drags her to a restaurant because he has something important to talk to her about.

Screenshot (484)

Kai On thanks Sheung Sheung because he said he can be what he is today thanks to her. He says that he has a crush on her since he was 15 and he swears to marry her one day but when they grew up Sheung Sheung is very high rank and he’s ashamed. So he vows to be the highest rank official and when he does, he will propose to Sheung Sheung. Sheung Sheung however, doesn’t like him at all and rejects the proposal. Her excuse is that his family raised her and she is too lowly for him.

Screenshot (492)

Zhiu Cheng is dining with Pao. He keeps pouring Pao wine so he can stab him with the dagger he has hidden under his sleeves when he drinks. Pao knows better and warns him about a bat that is behind him. While Zhiu Cheng turns around, Pao threw away his cup of wine. However, Zhiu Cheng pours him another cup of wine and this time Pao has no choice but to drink it. Zhiu pulls out the dagger and stabs Pao.

Book Review: My Life in Black and White~

Title: My Life in Black and White

My Rating: 8.5/10 Turtles

Lexi is extremely beautiful and she’s been told all her life, her family, friends, strangers and even model scouts. But it all changes when she smashes her face in the windshield and she has to take skin off her butt and stitches it on her face. Her life is ruined. She has to deal with her scars on her face and the thing she saw her best friend and boyfriend did right before the accident.

My Thoughts:

This book is amazing! I don’t even know where to start……….I love this book  but I gave it a 8.5/10 because it was just so real. When I was reading this book, it was like REALITY smacked right at my face. I do enjoy this book but I read books so I can be in my ‘fantasy’ world while I pretend to be the main girl character but in this book I certainly wouldn’t want to be the main girl character.

I was reading this extract the other day about story-writing and it mentioned the elements you need in your book to capture the readers: interesting characters, a memorable beginning, character developments and an appropriate pace. I noticed that this book has all of them. Interesting characters( Lexi the pretty girl), a memorable beginning( she smashed her face into a windshield), character developments( how she deals with her scars) and an appropriate pace( well…..for this, it is hard to think of an example~ it just is:P)

It actually does have an appropriate pace. Lexi doesn’t recover mentally until after sometime so that’s good because if she recovers too quickly, it would not be convincing. If she recovers too slow, the story would be dragged out so I think the pace of the story id skillfully planned out.

I hope the book is not based on a real story because if it is, then I’d probably feel sad and disgusted by what people do in America. Seriously! I felt bad for the girl and all but damn at some point I thought I was reading an adult novel. I have to say it is actually part of her fault for doing something so stupid but I guess it is what people do in reality too. That’s why I said this is real.

I knew from the beginning that I would like Lexi’s character. She is very strong and brave. I know a lot of people probably think that facing your scars are easy and that Lexi should cop on but it is always easier said than done. I’m the first to admit that and so I admire Lexi for it. She did get help from the sister but so what?! Everyone needs someone to support them and this is life.

I’m glad that Lexi and Taylor are friends again and that Lexi even befriended Heidi. I think that’s what the book told me~ sometimes in life, your friends can become your enemy and your enemy can become your friends. Another thing I learned is that sometimes you have to lose what you think defines yourself to find your real self. I really appreciate books that give you useful life-long lessons and are entertaining. I think you should read this book if you like this type of book. Since this is pretty “real”, I cried a lot so for those who doesn’t like depressing (this is really for half of the book) books and those that like supernatural books, this book is not for you.

I hope you guys give it a try and if you already read the book, tell me what you think of it in the comments below:) thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy it^^

My Opinion on The Master’s Sun Episode 12~

Title: The Master’s Sun

Main Cast:

  • So Ji Sub as Joo Joong-Won
  • Kong Hyo Jin as Tae Kong-Sil
  • Seo In Guk as Kang Woo
  • Kim Yoo Ri as Tae Yi Ryung

My Opinions:

I’m glad that Joong Won knows that Gong Sil is hurt now. At least they don’t have to hide about their feelings anymore. The whole Kandy or radar thingy. Now that I think about it, it is actually Joong Won’s first time IN Gong Sil’s house. I never know that Kang Woo was ahead(kinda) the relationship. It is really cute to see Joong Won get jealous of lots of things, even the plush cat.

I love the two kids and it was hilarious when he read the text wrong. Joong Won nearly had a heart attack! It is really sad the way Gong Sil and Joong Won wants to protect each other. I mean it’s a nice thing to do but I don’t know why when they say it I feel this pain in my heart. I guess I knew what was coming.

Haha……I love the way Gong Sil goes to KAng Woo, Joong Won and the Secretary for advices when there is a ghost case. She is not handling alone anymore and it’s even more fun to see the three of them singing to a ghost that they can’t even see. I tried imagining that the whole ghost thing that Gong Sil sees is all made up and people actually believed her……keke……this cracks me up:P

OMG! Yi Ryung cried again and this time, Kang Woo sees it. I’m getting the idea that Kang Woo is starting to open his heart for Yi Ryung. Even though he pretended that he doesn’t care about Yi Ryung in front of her, he does in the back.

I’m really confused about the whole Hee Joo is a twin thing. It’s like the Gu Family Book, they have nothing alike at all. I shall come up with another theory but I don’t know…..I can’t think of anything at the moment.

The ending of this episode is so sad:( I cried for whole ten minutes and I still can’t get over it. T^T Sure Joong Won can’t die cuz there’s 5 more episodes left………I just hope they are not having a ghost marriage.

What do you think of the ending? I don’t think he’s dead yet, I mean there’s still a lot of episodes so we’ll see. Thanks for reading and hope you enjoy my post^^
